ABYSS was a conceptual spatial exhibition project designed around the idea of exploring the ocean as a metaphor for discovery and depth. Instead of creating a traditional exhibition layout, the goal was to design an experience where visitors gradually move through different emotional and visual environments.

The project focused on how space, lighting, material, and movement can influence the way people feel and interact inside an environment. Each zone of the exhibition was designed to create a different atmosphere, making the experience feel immersive and narrative-driven rather than just informational.

Designing the Journey

The exhibition was divided into multiple zones that simulate a journey deeper into the ocean. As visitors move through the spaces, the forms, lighting, textures, and spatial layouts slowly change to create a sense of progression and exploration.

Every zone was designed with a different mood and purpose. Some spaces focused on immersion and movement, while others explored perception, reflection, and grounding. The idea was to make the audience experience the concept emotionally instead of only understanding it visually.

Building the Visual Experience

A major part of the project involved experimenting with spatial forms, environmental storytelling, and 3D visualization. I explored how curved structures, reflective surfaces, lighting, and material choices could change the feeling of a space and influence movement inside it.

The visual development process included concept sketching, moodboards, zoning, and creating 3D visualizations to test how the spaces would feel from a visitor’s perspective. The project helped me understand how atmosphere and spatial flow can shape user experience beyond digital screens.
